Shingled solar panel

This is the very latest design of solar panel.  Traditional solar panels have lead solder running across the top of the solar panel to connect the individual solar cells (known as busbars).  Shingled solar panels have the cells overlapping which has the following advantages:

• Greater output – shingled solar cells do not require lead solder busbars running across the surface of the panel, which blocks the sun.
• Increased shade tolerance – conventional solar panels are wired in series so if a part of the solar panel is shaded it can have a significant effect on the level of power output.  By contrast shingled cells are wired in groups in parallel minimizing the impact of shade.
• More robust – tests show that the shingled approach is more resistant to damage.
• Sleek aesthetics – There are no gaps between the cells and no silver solder.

ETFP top surface

Traditional flexible solar panels use a glossy PET top surface. This panel has a ETFE top surface having the following advantages:

• Higher output – higher percentage of sunlight passing through.
• Research shows ETFE degrades less in sunlight than PET – reduces sunlight damage and panel de-lamination.
• Self-cleaning – property of ETFE.

Other features

• Four reinforced mounting holes or adhesive fixing option.
• CE, TUV accredited.
• Water resistant in fresh water to a maximum depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes – IP68 rating.

Compatibility

• MC4 compatible contectors.
• Compatible with the charge controllers listed in the ‘You may also like’ section below when used in a single solar panel set up.  If using more than one panel, please call us for recommendations on suitable charge controllers.
